“Happy birthday, Rihanna,” she said to the crowd in the video posted to Instagram by her team.
“Thanks for all the support.
I’m so happy for you.
I hope to see you on my birthday.”
A month later, the superstar was back in New York for a photo shoot, and her team was ready to celebrate her birthday.
She didn’t want to leave her home in Manhattan, but instead went to the United Nations headquarters in New Orleans.
Her friends and family came to celebrate with her, and the hashtag #HappyBirthday was trending on Twitter.
“We were super excited to be there and the world was,” she told USA Today.
“We had a blast.
We had a lot of fun.
And it was so surreal.
It’s a big day.
It was a big night.”

Rihanna, who’s in her sixth year as a world superstar, also made a brief appearance on Sunday night in Toronto for the Toronto Raptors’ game.
She tweeted about the trip with a photo of herself on a plane and the words, “Happy Birthday!”
A day later, she was back at the UN in New Jersey.
The United Nations had announced it would host a special event honoring the life of Rihanna, which was scheduled for Thursday.
The video, posted on Instagram, showed the star in her office, holding a sign with the words “Happy 1 Year” and a message about her “new mission to inspire the next generation.”
Ridin, who had her first child in February, also posted a photo on Instagram of herself holding up a sign that read, “The only true world is where we come from.”
